Research and Extension Program

Our research targets Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of new, emerging or existing pests of turfgrass, ornamentals and nursery plants. Through IPM we aim to address insect pest issues and develop strategies with minimal environmental impact. Currently our lab is working on understanding the seasonal abundance, phenology and host range of spotted lanternfly Lycorma delicatula in Tennessee.

Through our Extension program, we aim to assist our stakeholders with relevant and timely information on major insect peses on turfgrass, ornamentals and nursery plants. To achieve this, efforts are concentrated on developing educational programs aimed at Extension personnel, producers, and other agricultural industry professionals. Through face-to-face conversations, educational talks, collaboration with county Extension agents, specialists, fellow faculty members and researchers, our ultimate aim is to ensure all clientele have access to and benefit from our research and Extension program.
